Co-organized by Alliance Française de Hong Kong and the Consulate General of France in Hong Kong and Macau, the 2nd DELF Certificates Award Ceremony took place on the 14th March 2016 at Jordan center of Alliance Française de Hong Kong, so as to recognize students’ achievements in learning French language at their schools in Hong Kong.
Around 40 students, along with their parents, were invited to the DELF Certificates Award Ceremony. They have all succeeded in passing the DELF Prim or DELF Junior examinations, and thus received corresponding diplomas for their knowledge in French language.
With the presence of the Consul General of France in Hong Kong and Macau, the laureates of the DELF Prim and DELF Junior in the examination session of 2015 received their diplomas which serve as a proof of their level and competence in French language.
Representatives from more than ten local and international schools, including Principals and Vice-principals from certain schools, were present at this award ceremony in order to celebrate the successes of their students.
During the award ceremony, each of the three students who have attained the DELF Junior B2 level gave a speech on their motivations in their journey of French learning. Students attaining the level of DELF B2 have a degree of independence that allows them to construct arguments to defend their opinion, explain their viewpoint and negotiate. Attaining a high degree of fluency, they are able to engage themselves in regular interactions spontaneously.
YEH Ton, one of the three laureates of DELF Junior B2 shared his French learning experience with the audience.
Ms Wendy Siu, who has been named an Officer of the National Order of Merit, one of the highest civilian honours bestowed by the French Republic, was invited as the patron as well as the guest of honor of the award ceremony. Founder of Heather & March, an exclusive agent of a number of high-end tableware and home accessory brands, Ms Siu gave a speech in how the links that she has established with the French language and culture enables her to advance in her career.
In Hong Kong, the Alliance Française is the only official examination center for DELF exams which have worldwide recognition and are administered by French educational authorities.
We hereby extend our warmest congratulations to the students as well as their teachers who were invited for this event.
