CNRSnews.fr, the new international website of The French National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS) [fr]
The CNRS launched on the 25th of November 2015 its new international website in English. This website dedicated to international scientists will generally feature same content as the original one in French CNRSlejournal.fr.
Gathering more than 1000 laboratories, the CNRS is currently the largest institute dedicated to fundamental research in Europe and remains according to “Nature Index” the first publisher of scientific articles worldwide. The new website is intended to substitute the quarterly publication of the CNRS International Magazine, which, for the last 10 years was the most predominant way used by CNRS to broadcast scientific results and news to the international community.
With ambition to publish more frequently, the CNRSnews.fr website would henceforth target a more wide audience and become thereby the English version of the CNRSlejournal.fr, the French CNRS’s scientific magazine highly recognized by its peers.
Including many articles written for the general public abroad, this new free website aim at explaining in the simplest possible way researches that are becoming more and more specifics and complexes.
Its goal is to provide relevant information to address global issues. « Science is without borders » explained lately Alain Fuchs, chief executive of the CNRS. « Today more than ever, the CNRS is involved in an internationalisation process. Both the intensification of international partnership and the establishment of this new website demonstrate our conviction to ease all kind of exchanges including knowledge transfer and researchers cooperations in order to foster the attractiveness of our scientific results around the world. “
As its French counterpart, lejournal.cnrs.fr, the website will fit all kind of existing platforms (web, smartphone, tablet…).
All articles, videos, slideshows available will cover 6 major topics: Life, Matter, Society, Universe, Earth, and Numeric. To reach the widest audience it will become possible to share and comment all contents on various social media.
