“France – Hong Kong Month of Environment” from September to October 2016 ! [fr] [中文]

After a series of events and activities organized before Paris COP21 (December 2015), the Consulate general of France in Hong Kong & Macau is going to launch “France – Hong Kong Month of Environment” on the 20th of September 2016. This event will last one month until the 20th of October 2016.

Since the beginning of the industrial age, global warming and climate change have both become a source of concerns for the populations and a rising challenge. Following COP 21, two international meetings related to these issues will be organized, in the coming months: the “Climate Chance Summit” in France (Nantes) mid-September and the COP22 in Morocco (Casablanca) in November.

Affirming the soaring awareness at a global scale, these events convene much of the hope for future generations. If Hong Kong has made significant commitments at COP 21 last year, there is a lot more to accomplish. The Consulate general of France in Hong Kong & Macau wishes to contribute to this “local green revolution” by helping the general public to better understand the challenges we are collectively facing. Thus, from the 20th of September to the 20th of October 2016, the Consulate general of France will launch the first edition of the “France – Hong Kong Month of Environment” highlighting the latest knowledge on environmental science as well as some innovative technologies to cope with climate change.

Experts, private companies, academics and scientists will gather to tell the public the outline of what is probably the biggest challenge of our time. The 4 weeks of the “France – Hong Kong Month of Environment” will be dedicated to 4 themes: earth, water, air, and fire.
