Christophe-Ono-Dit-Biot "dives" into Hong Kong readers’ hearts [fr]
The French Consulate was impatient to welcome Christophe Ono-Dit-Biot. Having just landed last Tuesday, July 14, he spent the last couple of days in the city that never sleeps!
Christophe Ono-dit-Biot held his first talk at the French bookstore "Parenthèses" on Wednesday, July 15. Excited readers were keen to hear him discuss his work and his professional life. Seated in a big and cosy sofa chair, surrounded by hundreds of books, the author shared his love for art, his passion for writing and his admiration for the world under the sea.
In a world that sometimes seems cruellly absurd, M. Ono-dit-Biot gives life to his characters, notably his main protagonist, Cesar, through which personal experiences are used to express a world, a European civilization that is undergoing a crisis, and that yet remains rich with culture and charisma. As he depicted his characters and ideas, the audience embarked on a journey led by the variety and quality of his vocabulary and left delighted by the prestation.
M. Ono-dit-Biot then went to the Hong Kong Book Fair where he held a conference on his award winning novel "Plonger" and more largely on the theme of "writing love, as a transmission of words, images, sensations". Moderated by Hong Kong’s very own Chip Tsao, renowned and acclaimed columnist, broadcaster and author, the two discussed the novel "Plonger", and more largely the importnace of culture and literature and the means to transmit love and strong emotions.
The 136 members of the public present thoroughly enjoyed the conference and helped ensure this literary and cultural exchange was both a success and a delight! In fact, the vast majority hastily bought a copy of "Plonger" to get it signed by the author himself.
