French cinema in Hong Kong [fr]

It has been more than a century ago since the French’s Lumière Brothers film first shown on the Hong Kong public screen in 1897 at the City Hallmoreover, The French Cinépanorama festival organised by the Alliance Français of Hong Kong also honors the French cinema since 40 years ago while numerous films have been co-produced in Hong Kong for decades.

French films in theaters: 21 French movies have had a commercial release on Hong Kong territory in 2015 (against 18 in 2012) and they generated 4 551 820 € of box office that year.

Highest tickets sales went to “Taken 3” by Olivier Megaton (2 449 450 €). It was followed by “The Little Prince” by Mark Osborne (1 615 232 €) and “Wolf Totem” by Jean-Jacques Annaud (248 836 €).
