From 23/10 to 01/11 : Hong Kong Human Rights Documentary Film Festival [fr]
Human Rights Education, empower children, empower the world! Human Rights Documentary Film Festival was first organised by Amnesty International Hong Kong in 2011. Since then, documentaries across the world were brought to Hong Kong, putting various human rights issues under spotlight. The theme of the 5th Human Rights Documentary Film Festival is Human Rights Education. According to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights: “Everyone has the right to education. Education shall be directed to the full development of the human personality and to the strengthening of respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms.”

The Opening of the festival will take place on the 23rd of October at 7 pm at Grand cinema.
Amongst this rich program,the French documentary “This Is My Land” by Tamara Erde reveals how the Palestinian and Israeli education systems teach the history of these two heritages in the heart of hatred.The teaching of history and national education has always been a controversial issue. The Jewish children in Israel & Arabic in Palestine are constantly under conflict for the issue of land dispute between the two countries. Children are taught by the teachers that they should get rid of people who interfere with their nations. How is history being taught in these countries? The filmmaker spent a year visiting 6 schools in both places, discover from teaching materials to class discussion, how distorted history has been preached continuously to their next generations.
