HK Universities COP21 Challenge Phase 2: 31.10-1.11.2015

HK tertiary schools challenge is a two-stage programme to bring out the creativity and innovation of Hong Kong students in regard to solving climate change issues.

The participants can demonstrate their creativity, learn new skills and win a chance to represent their school at a two-day workshop organised by Pocket Parks Collective. The first runners-up will present their ideas to Secretary of Environment, Mr. KS Wong.


The programme consists of 2 stages: Submit your video and Design-Thinking Workshop.

Stage one

Students from all Hong Kong tertiary schools were invited to form teams (up to five students)

What to do: design a short video (maximum length 3-minutes addressing a solution related to climate change and its impact on Hong Kong).

10 teams have be selected to continue to the second round !

Prize: get a certificate signed by the Consulate General of France in Hong Kong & Macau and the Hong Kong government if selected to the second stage

Stage two

The selected students will join an intensive two-day, overnight “Design Thinking” workshop to focus on developing feasible solutions to a specific climate change issue that Hong Kong is facing on the October 31, and November 1, 2015.

What to do: Learn design-thinking principles and techniques, and apply these new skills to this collective challenge. The workshop will end with a presentation by the students for the Secretary for the Environment, Mr. KS Wong.

Prize for the winners: French May membership cards, Vouchers from Maya Café - a French veggie restaurant (150HKD), Bottle G.H. Mumm Cordon Rouge champagne


After the challenge, in November 2015, Hong Kong government representatives will join delegates from all over the world in Paris at “COP21” - the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change 21st Conference of the Parties to discuss global solutions to climate change.
