* The Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry in France

For the last 37 years, the France-China Committee (CFC) has been one of the main actors in France-China economic diplomacy. Its objectives are to promote French products and services in China and Franco-Chinese co-operation.

Since 2004, The France-China Committee has organized the Innovation Awards for Franco-Chinese Teams, aiming to promote and reward innovative projects of excellence that have been jointly developed by bicultural Franco-Chinese teams. These teams may be from universities, French Grandes Ecoles and laboratories, or from research and development centers and/or French and/or Chinese companies. In this way, the whole chain of French-style innovation is represented.

Why these Awards?

In France, innovation is understood as a constant chain from fundamental research to production and sale, via technological cooperation between science and industry.

Cooperation in scientific and technological research plays a vital role in Franco-Chinese relations. Since 1978, our two countries have recognized the importance of research and have created several joint research structures, research networks and dialogue structures for industrial cooperation. This has been thanks to the bilateral agreement on scientific and technological cooperation, which was strengthened in 2013.

Alongside this, more and more French companies are creating R&D structures at the heart of the Chinese ecosystem. The diversity of actions that these companies carry out (fundamental research, adaptation or development of specific products for the local market, innovation) forms part of a common vision to develop this mutually beneficial cooperation.

Criteria and types of Awards

Under this competition, three types of awards will be awarded for innovative projects developed by Franco-Chinese bicultural teams, concerning innovations, such as innovative technologies, products or services, with a significant impact in social, economic, industrial and environmental terms:

R&D (Research & Development) Award: this prize is awarded for innovations, not yet placed on the market, developed by one and/or a combination of public or private research units such as research and development centers, and/or institutes, and/or company laboratories,
