MINES Paris Tech in the Top 15! [fr]
Published on 20 August 2015, the Times Higher Education put MINES Paris Tech in a particularly positive position. World ranked the third for the proportion of research income from industry, it is also ranked the 15th regarding the ratio of scientific publications co- authored with the industry.
Which universities are the most innovative?
The British newspaper Times Higher Education (THE) has decided to shed new light on the world of university innovations and inventions.
The THE reveals that the university – industry partnerships are in augmentation. The higher education institutions around the world seek to enhance in their research, to find new applications for their discoveries and new income resource.
Besides, the impact of these innovations and inventions on the economy and the society has in general never been so significant.
This is where the idea of the creation of this new ranking comes from. The objective is to rank the higher education and research institutions based on 4 criteria.

- Resources from industry
- Industry contribution
MINES Paris Tech and Centrale Lyon are the only French establishments in the Top 15 being one of the worldwide champions in innovation.
The École des mines stands out when it comes to Industry collaboration (first criterion) and Industry contribution (forth criterion). For Damien Goetz, the director of the research, among all the advantages, the partnership with the industry prevents their research from being too academic, too distant from the real life and from the applications to be invented in the future.
In the global scale, China and the United States are the big winners with respectively 10 and 9 establishments classified in this new evaluation.
