‘’Science Rendez-vous’’ on Science fiction in philosophy (05/17/2016) [fr]
Prof. Cassous-Noguès, mathematician professor of philosophy at the University Paris 8-Vincennes , will lead the next "Science Rendez-vous" on Tuesday 17th May 2016 on Science fiction in philosophy. The event is organized by the Scientific Department of the Consulate General of France in Hong Kong and Macau, from 7.30pm to 9pm at the restaurant " Chez Patrick Deli " in BRIM28.
Question about the impact of philosophy on the experience of paradoxal thoughts so as to try to explore what is possible in the widest sense. For example, bodies that we can imagine or those which technology may offer to us : Can we dream of controlling our body withremotes, or can we imagine our body showing our thoughts or touching without being touched, like we can see without being seen, etc.
Professor Pierre Cassou-Noguès, alumni of the prestigious Ecole Nationale Supérieure, agrégé de Mathématiques , is a professor of philosophy at the University Paris 8 and the co-editor of the journal ‘’SubStance’’ on theory and literary criticism.
Prof Cassou-Noguès’ work focuses on the relationship between the imaginary world and the reason. As part of his work, he has studied the archives of several scholars (Kurt Gödel, Emil Post, Norbert Wiener) and has investigated several aspects of neurosciences to show the link between the two worlds. He has also examined a number of literary and artistic works to show the numerous ways in which an extra-scientific relationship is developed between the imaginary world and reason.
Come join the discussion (in English) on climate change which will be animated by Prof. Cassous-Noguès!
