Abstract:

We will present how the structure and synthesis of inorganic fluoride materials, under many various forms (i.e. nano-crystallite to bulk crystal, glasses or ceramics), can influence the rich energy level scheme of rare earth ions and their energy transfers, and can then be used to develop various applications from optical amplification to frequency conversion, near field imaging or sensing… Some examples will illustrate these research works.
