Study in France [fr]
Campus France (Hong Kong Office) is the official organization in Hong Kong and Macau helping local students to study in France. Your contact is Ms. Lavender CHEUNG.
Higher education in France is renowned for its quality and accessibility.
France’s success in manufacturing, technology and science (space, transportation, medicine, mathematics), the number of Nobel prizes and Field medals that French nationals are rewarded, the prominent positions of French business schools in university rankings like Financial Times and Times Higher, etc, all these reflect the remarkable annual investment of the French government on education and research, which results in such academic excellence of French higher education.
Despite this high quality of education, France is one of the most financially accessible country for students. Due to the government’s financial involvement, the true cost of higher education imposed on local and international students is largely defrayed (between €10,000 and €14,000 is in charge by the State per student per year). Not only the tuition fees are among the lowest in the world (e.g. Bachelor’s programmes in a public university in 2013-2014 cost only €183 per year), all students in France, regardless of their nationality, also enjoy the same students’ benefits and welfare like social security (medical assistance), housing allowance, students’ price in transportation, canteens, cultural events, etc.
Degree programmes in France are available at Bachelor’s to PhD level in diverse disciplines. The requirement of French proficiency varies widely from programme to programme, too. To date, more than 800 postsecondary programmes of all levels and domains are taught in English. Students can choose freely among them according to their level of French and/or English, though it is advisable to learn French before their arrival or during their stay in France for practical reasons as well as the extra language ability which will be certainly beneficial to one’s career.
