The Grand Chancellor of the Légion d’Honneur and Chancellor of the National Order of Merit, General Jean-Pierre Kelche, paid his first visit to Hong Kong on the 15th and 16th of October 2007. The former Grand Chancellor of the Légion d’Honneur had already come in 2003.
On the 15th of October, General Jean-Pierre Kelche met the members of the Légion d’Honneur Club Hong Kong Chapter, and thanked the generous Hong Kong donators who have largely contributed to the renovation of the Légion d’honneur museum in Paris. He also had a courtesy call with the Chief Executive of HKSAR, visited the joint research Institute Pasteur - Hong Kong University, whose aim is the study of infectious diseases (for instance SRAS, avian flu) and met the Vice Chancellor of the Hong Kong University, the researchers, and the students who benefit from the exchanges supported by The Légion d’Honneur Club Hong Kong Chapter.
The visit of the Grand Chancellor of the Légion d’Honneur aimed at enhancing the cooperation between France and Hong Kong.

Thereafter, the guests entered the gala dinner, during which two musical interludes were performed by the Laurent Perrin quartet.
On the 16th of October, the Grand Chancellor and his spouse visited the bilingual classes at the Victor Ségalen French International School.
